If you are a former customer of CPS Energy, we may be holding unclaimed funds up to $100.00 from your previous account. These funds may be the result of one of the following:
- an unclaimed deposit from a previous account you held with CPS Energy
- unclaimed monies from overpayment of the last bill on your account before your service was cancelled or stopped
- an unclaimed credit issued to your account by CPS Energy due to an incorrect meter reading
In most cases, customers ended their service and left a residence without providing CPS Energy with a valid mailing address to forward a refund check. We also may have checks for previous vendors and former employees of our company. Whatever the reason, this is your money and we are required to hold these abandoned funds until they are claimed by their rightful owner or legal heir.
Our Unclaimed Funds Database includes unclaimed property from accounts that are three years and older. If you believe CPS Energy may have unclaimed funds from a previous residential or commercial account you owned, search our database. If a search reveals funds in your name, you can claim these funds in one of two ways:
- Request funds electronically through our database. Upon completion of your search, directions will be provided for submitting your request electronically. Or you can request funds by completing and mailing the Unclaimed Property Form to: Cash Management - Unclaimed Funds, CPS Energy, Mail Drop 100603, P.O. Box 1771, San Antonio, TX 78296-1771.
- Call CPS Energy at (210) 353-2714 to request a search for your unclaimed property if you are unable to search our database. Be prepared to provide the address for the residence for which service was provided.
As part of CPS Energy's unclaimed property process, you will be asked to prove rightful ownership of any funds you may claim.
CPS Energy is holding unclaimed property valued equal or less than $100.00 per individual. By law, we are required to file, on an annual basis, any unclaimed funds equal or greater to $100.01 with the State of Texas Comptroller’s Office. If you believe you may be the owner of such funds, we encourage you to search the State’s Unclaimed Property database or contact the Comptroller’s Office (see Web site below for phone, mail or e-mail contact information).
