Cagnon-Lytle Transmission Line Project

Cagnon map

Planning studies by the Electric Reliability Council Of Texas (ERCOT) and CPS Energy Transmission Planning show that an additional 138-kV transmission line into CPS Energy’s Lytle substation is needed to support the voltage and electric load demands of the surrounding area. This line will connect the CPS Energy Lytle substation to the CPS Energy Cagnon Road substation. The line will also feed a new substation north of La Coste and east of Castroville.

The CPS Energy Lytle substation is located in southwest Bexar County in the area of West FM 2790 South and Old Frio City Road. Nearby CPS Energy substations are Somerset (approximately 10 miles to the east) and Cagnon (approximately 15 miles to the north and east). The Cagnon, Lytle, and Somerset substations provide distribution circuits to residential, light commercial and industrial loads in their respective areas. The Lytle substation also serves the electric load for the cities of La Coste, Lytle, and approximately one-half of the load for Castroville.
