Electric Transmission Texas, LLC (ETT) and CPS Energy plan to build a new 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line in portions of Medina, Atascosa, and Bexar Counties.
This new power line will connect the existing ETT Lytle Substation, located off County Road (CR) 6712 in Medina County, to CPS Energy’s Lytle Substation, located on Farm-to-Market (FM) 2790 on the Bexar/Atascosa county line north of Lytle, Texas.
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas Independent System Operator (ERCOT ISO) has determined that the line is necessary to support the safety and reliability of the ERCOT Region transmission system. Specifically, the proposed line addresses numerous transmission facility overloads caused by power flows necessary to support the continued aggressive growth in and around the Lytle area.
The proposed line is a joint project between ETT and CPS Energy. The two utilities have agreed to work together and with the public to find the best route for the needed power line. CPS Energy will build and own the portion of the line within its retail electric service area and ETT will build the remainder of the line to the Lytle Substation.
The ETT Lytle – CPS Energy Lytle Project is scheduled to be completed by April 2013.
