Hill Country-Stonegate Transmission Line Project

CPS Energy is proposing to construct a new Hill Country — Stonegate 138 kV electric transmission circuit to connect the existing Hill Country and Stonegate substations.  This new circuit will be installed on the existing transmission structures between the two substations.  The route of the existing 138 kV electric transmission line is illustrated by the dashed red line on the adjacent map.  New 138 kV terminals will also be installed at the Hill Country and Stonegate substations for connection of the new 138 kV electric transmission circuit.

This proposed 138 kV electric transmission line is needed to ensure transmission system reliability to the substations in the northern and northeastern areas of San Antonio.  Growing development in these areas has increased the electric demand.  The additional circuit will provide added capacity and redundancy to reliably serve the existing and new development.

As with most projects, construction activities will impact residents in different ways.  Construction activities will be focused around the existing substation sites and the existing transmission structure locations.

Activities that may be typical to the entire construction project will be the presence of construction equipment and materials as well as temporary partial road closures while construction is in progress.
