CPS Energy plans to construct a new electric substation in the north central area of San Antonio, near Blanco Road north of Loop 1604. The new substation will be supplied from an existing high-voltage transmission line. The substation will supply electric power to homes and businesses in the immediate area using existing lower-voltage distribution lines. This substation will require a minimum of 5 acres.
The existing CPS Energy electric system in north central San Antonio must be expanded to serve customers’ needs for reliable electric power. The demand for electricity is increasing in the Blanco-1604 area, and we have an opportunity to improve the reliability of electric service to our customers. We propose to start in mid 2012.
