Talley Road Substation Project

CPS Energy is building the new Talley Road Substation to be located off FM 471 just West of SH 211. This substation is needed to step-down (reduce) from transmission voltage to distribution voltage levels for distribution to customers in the area.  The initial substation design will include two power transformers and related equipment and will be fed from the existing Texas Research to Medina Lake transmission line that crosses the property.  The substation could ultimately have up to four power transformers and related equipment.  The project is currently in the design phase with construction beginning in March 2010 with an expected completion date of June 2011. The Talley Rd. Substation will provide better service reliability and serve additional load growth in the Northwestern portion of CPS Energy’s service area.

As with most projects, construction activities may impact residents and motorist in different ways.  Construction activities will be focused around the new substation site.  Activities that may be typical to the construction project will be the presence of construction equipment and materials as well as possible increased construction traffic in and around the area while construction is in progress.
