Perform an Energy Audit Before You Take a Bath in High Bills
Most people use a lot of energy to take hot showers, clean the dishes, and wash their clothes. The demand for hot water on a daily basis is what makes the water heater the second-biggest energy user in your home. Does it take a long time for your shower to heat up? Is the temperature of the water too hot? If you’re having these problems, you could be wasting energy and water.
The truth is there are great ways you can use your water heater more efficiently without compromising your quality of life. If you think your water heater is not running efficiently, review the water heater section of the energy audit checklist. Watch our video for additional help on conducting your own energy audit.
