It's no secret--Greater San Antonio continues to grow. Today, motorists bristle with heavy traffic and high gas prices while local government stretches resources to provide services to an ever-increasing number of homes and businesses. Despite the challenges posed by growth and prosperity, local residents and businesses still enjoy an affordable, reliable supply of electricity. This can be attributed to CPS Energy's use of a diverse mix of fuel resources including coal, natural gas, nuclear power and renewable energy. CPS Energy's commitment to multiple sources of energy provides the company with tremendous flexibility to meet the area's energy demands.

Fuels diversification allows our customers to pay the lowest utility bills in the country when compared to the 20 largest cities. It also means our customers can flip their lights on without any thought of being left in the dark. However, the electrical needs of our community are growing at about 3 percent each year. CPS Energy adds from 1,000 to 2,000 new customers each month. This growth is not expected to end any time soon. The time has come for our community to become more conscious of how it uses electricity and to consider how it can invest in new sources of energy for the future.

A few years ago, CPS Energy developed its Strategic Energy Plan that focuses on four initiatives to accomplish these goals.
