Make Sure Your Air and Duct System Is Operating Efficiently
Learn how to diagnose
air flow performance problems! Residential & Commercial HVAC System
& Performance Air Flow Course February 12-14 Get details here!
Ducts distribute conditioned air throughout a home with forced-air heating and cooling systems. A duct system is the collection of tubes that distribute this air to each of the home's rooms. About 20 percent of the air that moves through your home's duct system may be lost due to leaks, holes and poorly connected ducts. The likely result is higher utility bills and more difficulty keeping your house comfortable, no matter how the thermostat is set.
The performance of your air flow system may be compromised and in need of repair or replacement if:
You have high summer and winter energy bills.
You have rooms that are difficult to heat and cool.
Your ducts are located in an attic, crawlspace, or the garage.
Or you find tangled or kinked flexible ducts in your system.
To improve the efficiency of your air system, CPS Energy is offering a rebate for:
Duct Repair or Replacement
Repair and/or replace existing duct system (minimum of 50% of duct work replaced) --
If AC contractor uses Duct Blaster Test Method, a rebate up to $750/system.
Repair and/or replace existing duct system (minimum of 50% of duct work replaced) --
If AC contractor uses Flow Hood Test Method, a rebate up to $2,500/system.
Duct Testing
CPS Energy will pay for 50% of the cost of testing the duct system up to $250/system.
This applied only if the duct system is repaired by a registered contractor (includes both the Duct Blaster and Flow Hood testing method).
Air Flow Performance Rebates are available only for work completed on existing AC systems. This program is not applicable to new construction. The Air Flow Performance Certification program will include rebates for the repair and/or replacement of duct work needed to improve the overall efficiency of your heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system and for testing that shows improvement to the HVAC system. Rebates are not available for duct sealing.
To qualify for rebate:
1) Pretesting must show 25% or more leakage in the duct system.
2) Post-testing of the repairs and/or replacement must show 6% or less leakage in the duct system.
3) All testing must be performed by a CPS Energy registered contractor under the Air Flow Performance Rebate Program.
The Air Flow Performance Certification Application is not available on this website. Copies of the application are only available through Air Flow Performance Registered Contractors.
Your CPS Energy registered AC contractor will provide you with an estimate of the rebate amount after pre-testing and inspection of your duct system.
