Use the following guidelines to achieve maximum energy savings, proper tree distance and
spacing when designing your site plan:
- Call 811 One-Call for FREE utility locator service at least 3 days prior to creating your site plan.
- Locate trees for maximum energy savings. Trees must be planted within 10-30 feet of an air-conditioned building, on the west, south, and/or east sides.
- Locate trees for minimum interference with other structures (i.e. driveways, air conditioning units, utility lines, etc.).
- Locate trees to ensure clear lines of sight for traffic.
- Do not locate trees within utility easements, trees must be planted 25 feet away from overhead utility lines.
