CPS Energy will fund solar water heater rebates in 2009 according to the following criteria:
Rebate funding is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participation in the Solar Rebate Program does not affect customer participation in other CPS Energy efficiency/conservation programs.
Completed Solar Water Heating Application must be submitted and approved prior to system installation. Once approved, system may be installed. Once complete, CPS Energy will perform a final inspection before approving and issuing rebate for the system.
The standard rebate level for qualifying equipment is $0.60 per kWhr saved per year based on a conventional 50-gallon electric water heater (See SRCC chart for San Antonio).
The requested rebate amount will be calculated as: System SRCC rating x $0.60 per kWh
The maximum rebate is $2,000 per qualified installed system.
You may also be eligible for a Federal Solar Tax Credit through the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The Federal Solar Tax Credit is calculated at 30% of the cost of the “qualifying equipment”. Other details and criteria may apply.
For more information about the Federal Tax Credit consult your tax professional. IRS forms and additional information can be found at the ENERGY STAR Web site.
Refund Agreement
CPS Energy will review and approve all rebate applications. After approval, applicant will be notified to begin the solar water heater equipment installation. Customer will have 90 days from date of CPS Energy approval to complete the installation of the system. Systems completed after 90 days will be disqualified for the rebate.
After completion, customer must contact CPS Energy to schedule and perform a final inspection of the system. Rebates will not be issued until a final system inspection has been performed and approved.
Customer agrees to maintain the installed solar water heater system in proper working condition for a minimum period of five (5) years. Failure to do so may constitute a repayment of a prorated portion of the rebate that shall become due and payable to CPS Energy.
Customer agrees to allow CPS Energy to perform equipment inspection(s).
