The attic is often where you can find the biggest air leaks in your home. These leaks can make you uncomfortably hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Both can lead to an increase in your energy bill. By adding insulation, you can stay comfortable while using less energy.
CPS Energy is offering a rebate of $0.15 per square foot of ceiling insulation installed. The rebate amount is based on the amount of insulationactually installed.
Rebate Guidelines:
Applicable only for retrofits.
Attic insulation must be installed between conditioned and unconditioned areas to qualify.
Final insulation must be at least R-30.
Existing ceiling insulation must be no greater than R-14.
Attic crawl space must be adequate. At the highest roof peak, clearance between the bottom of the roof rafters and the top of the ceiling joists must be at least 24 inches. If there is less than 24 inches of attic clearance before the new insulation is installed, the final insulation level must be at least R-19. If the final insulation level is R-19, existing ceiling insulation must be no greater than R-11.
The current insulation level of each home will be determined and documented by the insulation installed. Degradation due to age and density of the existing insulation should be taken into account.
All materials must be new.
Garages and other non-living areas do not qualify.
Attach an itemized and dated invoice from the contractor or retailer (include insulation manufacturer, type and square feet) along with your application form.

Funding for this program is limited to funds availability.
The measure must be installed in a home served by CPS Energy between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2008.
The completed application form, together with the itemized receipt detailing the work completed, must be received by December 31, 2008 to be eligible.
CPS Energy reserves the right to make changes to the program without notice.
Applications must be received within 30 days of completion of projects.
CPS Energy reserves the right to inspect all projects. The customer may lose the incentive if CPS Energy cannot verify the information provided on the application form. Maximum rebate per customer is $2,500 total for all rebates excluding air conditioning, CFL, and Mow Down Smog.
