Wall Insulation Rebates

wall insulation pic

Walls are important to consider in an insulation evaluation because they comprise a large portion of your home's "envelope" (the shell, made up of the outer walls, ceiling, floors, windows, and doors of a house). Unless your home was specially designed and constructed for energy efficiency, you can usually increase the comfort of your home and lower your energy costs by adding more insulation.  Having the right amount of insulation in your attic and exterior walls can make a noticeable difference when it comes to what you spend on heating and cooling.

CPS Energy is offering a rebate for wall insulation of $0.15 per square foot of treated wall area.

Wall Insulation Rebate Guidelines
  • Rebate of $0.15 per square foot of treated wall area (gross wall area less window and door area).
  • Rebate is based on the amount of insulation actually installed.
  • Applicable only for retrofits.
  • Wall insulation must be installed between conditioned and unconditioned areas to qualify.
  • Final insulation must be at least R-13.
  • There must be no existing wall insulation.
  • All insulation must be new materials and have R-value stated on the packaging material.
  • Garages and other non-living areas do not qualify.
  • Attach an itemized and dated invoice from the contractor or retailer (include insulation manufacturer, type and square feet) along with your application form.
  • The final insulation level of each home will be determined and documented by the insulation installer.  Square footage measurements will be verified against Bexar County property tax records, or inspected by a CPS Energy inspector.
  • Funding for this program is limited to funds availability.
  • The measure must be installed in a home served by CPS Energy between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.
  • The completed application form, together with the itemized receipt detailing the work completed, must be received by December 31, 2009 to be eligible.

CPS Energy reserves the right to make changes to the program without notice.

Rebates are retroactive to January 1, 2009.  For work completed on July 1, 2009, or later, applications must be received within 30 days of completion of projects.

Wall insulation rebates will be granted only for installations completed by contractors registered with CPS Energy.  Work completed by other contractors or by homeowners are not eligible for a rebate from CPS Energy.

CPS Energy reserves the right to inspect all projects.  The customer may lose the incentive if CPS Energy cannot verify the information provided on the application form.

The maximum rebate per customer is $2,500 total for all rebates, excluding air conditioning, CFL, and Mow Down Smog.
