The next time a major power outage is expected to affect a large part of our service area, expect a call, text or email from CPS Energy.
A CPS Energy Alert is issued when a major storm or statewide power emergency is likely to cause system-wide power outages. An Alert is sent to the phone number or email address currently listed as part of your account. However, you can customize your emergency contact information if you would prefer to get an Alert notification sent to a different number or email – such as a mobile phone or work email address.
Updating your emergency information is easy if you’re a Manage My Account user. To enroll in Manage My Account and to update your Alert preferences, use the following instructions.
If you don’t use Manage My Account but still wish to sign up for Alert notifications, you can call (210) 353-2255 and modify your alert preferences using our automated voice response system. It only takes a few minutes.
Should you elect to receive a text message as part of your preferences, remember that provider charges may apply.
If a CPS Energy Alert is issued, you likely will receive it by email or text faster than by phone. All messages issued via phone will have a caller ID of (210) 353-2111.
If you do not wish to receive a CPS Energy Alert at all, you can opt out of the system.
