CPS Energy completed an innovative natural gas supply transaction in 2007 that should keep our energy bills more affordable for years to come.

Through the SA Energy Acquisition Public Facility Corporation, a non-profit corporation was created that will allow us to acquire natural gas at below-market prices.  In short, this new corporation pre-paid for a 20-year supply of natural gas by using the proceeds from issuing tax-exempt revenue bonds.  CPS Energy then buys the gas from the non-profit corporation each month at a discount from the current market price. Such advanced planning has resulted in a first-of-its-kind transaction for a municipal utility like CPS Energy, and is expected to save our gas customers more than $100 million over the next two decades.
