We are longtime supporters of EVs

In collaboration with the City of San Antonio and other partners, we are moving towards a smart city. A technically-advanced grid, smart lighting, support of public transportation initiatives and public charging technology are all some of the building blocks.

We started on the EV part of this journey in 2011 when we educated and encouraged early adopters to install a Level 2 charger in their home. The following year we installed a network of Level 2 public charging stations at more than 30 locations throughout the community, with each charging station providing 1 or more ports for simultaneous EV charging. As with any new technology, the use of public charging started out slow but has grown incrementally over the years. 

In June 2018, we installed public charging stations, each with multiple ports, in VIA’s newest and largest park & ride facility located in far north San Antonio (Stone Oak & Hwy 281) as part of a solution to ease traffic congestion in our community and to advance smart public transportation choices.
