Merida to Westside Transmission Line Rebuild Project

In our effort to continually enhance the reliability of our service, we are rebuilding an existing single circuit 138 kV transmission (power) line between our Merida and Westside Substations. The transmission line route will be four miles long and begins near the Westside Substation, near the intersection of Ruiz St and San Joaquin Ave. The line proceeds south and turns east along Ceralvo St. Then, the line turns north on Cupples Rd. The line turns east on Merida St. to the Merida Substation. It involves completely removing and rebuilding the transmission line including foundations, transmission structures (poles) and electrical wires. The existing lattice (webbed) structures will be replaced with steel poles. Customers along Ceralvo St and Merida St. may experience short unavoidable outages during construction.

Surveying will begin February 2018, and construction will begin May 2018. Scheduled completion date is December 2019.
