CPS Energy plans to construct a new electric substation near the intersection of Potranco Road and Richland Hills in the northwest area of San Antonio. This facility will be built on CPS Energy property. The new substation will be supplied from an existing high-voltage 138kV transmission line currently located along Potranco Road.
A substation is a local power hub or distribution point for electricity. This substation will provide additional electric capacity to accommodate existing and future growth, and it will improve the reliability of electric services to homes and businesses in the area.
Construction of the substation is tentatively scheduled to begin August 2016 and will be completed by summer 2018. We would like to thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work to continue delivering dependable and affordable energy to our customers.
