Road Closures and Infrastructure Projects

Upcoming Road Closures

To maintain the overall health of our infrastructure and utility system, we have to occasionally close roads to perform upgrades, maintenance and replacements.   The road closures below are scheduled but on occasion, we are forced to close roads to make unscheduled repairs to our equipment.

The below schedule and timeline are subject to change.  Thank you for your patience as we work to provide you with safe and reliable electric and gas service.

NEW LAW:  CPS Energy reminds you as of September 1, 2019, the Move Over Slow Down law now includes the requirement to move over or slow down for utility vehicles with flashing lights.  Help keep our crews safe.

The City and County Stay Home Work Safe mandate for San Antonians to stay home exempts utility companies. CPS Energy will not compromise our ability to deliver safe, reliable energy to our customers in this time of need.

March 28 & 31, 2020

Time Frame:

  • Saturday, March 28 through Sunday, March 29, 2020  7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

  • MAP IT

Scope of Work:

  • As required by TxDOT, off-duty law enforcement officers will provide traffic control to help drivers safely reach their destination.
  • In support of a current substation project, CPS Energy contractors plan to replace overhead electric lines spanning across SE Loop 410. This work will require temporary lane closures affecting drivers traveling in both directions of SE Loop 410 near the job site. The lane closures are coordinated with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and are needed to ensure driver and crew safety.
  • To maintain the overall health of infrastructure and the utility system, CPS Energy occasionally closes roads to perform upgrades, maintenance and replacements. Lane closures are expected to last no more than 15 minutes each. A rolling roadblock, also known as a temporary road closure, rolling block, pacing operation, or traffic pacing, is a common highway traffic control technique used to temporarily slow or stop traffic upstream of construction, maintenance, and utility work activities requiring a short-term full closure of the roadway and or lanes.
  • No residential or commercial power interruptions are expected in the area because of this work.
